Peggy Juanita Shearer, 68, died October 25, 1997 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Born January 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Bennett & Pansy Wilbanks Bennett.
She attended school in Caruthersville, Missouri and was a 1947 Graduate of Caruthersville High School. She was captain of the Girls Basketball Team. She also attended Western Michigan College.
On October 16, 1950 she was united in marriage to Mr. William P. Shearer.
She was employed by the Michigan Power Company as an Accountant for 28 years before her retirement.
She was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Catholic Church of Green Valley, Arizona.
She was a Sponsor of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, a member of the Moose Club, Eagles Club, American Legion Auxiliary.
She never met a stranger, loved by all.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy, Bobby & Benny.
Survivors include: her husband, William P. Shearer of Sahuarita, Arizona; one son, William P. Shearer Jr. and wife Randy of Biloxi, Ms.; four sisters, Melba Byrn of Evansville, Indiana, Barbara Bolen and Darla Girkey both of Sahuarita, Arizona and Cindy Bell of Bourbon, Mo.; one brother, Richard Bennett of Dayton, Ohio; one aunt, Eula Young of Caruthersville, Mo.; three granddaughters, Laura Lee, Holly and Jamie; three great grandchildren, David, Brandon and Rebecca; a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many many friends.
Funeral Mass was held October 31, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caruthersville, Mo. with Father Joseph Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville.
