She became a member of the Christian Church at Harvard, Nebraska in 1904 and was still a member at the time of her death.
She was united in marriage to James Caldwell on December 4, 1901. To this union two children were born a daughter, Addie (Mrs. Marion Devitt), and a son, Clarence, who died in infancy. James Caldwell died in 1906.
She was united in marriage to Jim Hattan on August 12, 1908. One daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Stierwalt, was born to this union. Jim and Edna celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on August 12, 1958. Jim Hattan died in 1963.
Mrs. Hattan was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters, and 3 brothers. She leaves to mourn her passing, beside her daughters, two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Willcock of Doniphan, Nebraska, and Mrs. Belle Whitsel of Juniata, Nebraska, nine grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, neices (sic), nephews and other friends.
Funeral services were held May 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the Klawitter Funeral Home in Nelson. The Rev. Victor Schwarz of the First Christian church officiated at the services. Mrs. Gertrude Skinner, pianist, played "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful the Sunset."
Casket bearers were Ralph Ferebee, Don Iliff, Billy Stierwalt, Danny Stierwalt, Max Stierwalt and George Stierwalt Jr.
Interment was made in Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, Nebraska.
