Esther Pauline, 48, wife of Ray W. Bird, died in a York hospital last Saturday afternoon, following an operation to which she submitted earlier in the week.
She had been ill three weeks.
Esther Pauline Gibson was born at Kirksville, Mo., Sept. 19, 1893. Her marriage with Ray Bird occured at York January 3, 1912. They have been residents of York the past three years, coming here from Thayer. Mr. Bird is employed by the Northwestern railroad.
Surviving near kin are a son, Eugene, living at Los Angeles,; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Kleemeyer and Mrs. Darlene Lounsburry, both of Glendale, Calif.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Gibson of York; and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Wilcox of Geneva.
Rev Paul L. Phillip, pastor of the York Methodist church, conducted the funeral services held in the chapel of Metz mortuary Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in Greenwod cemetery.
