Julia Hester Davis was born near Muncie, Indiana, August 16, 1853. Died at Havensville, Kansas, January 31, 1919 aged 65 years, 5 months and 15 days.
She came with her parents to Kansas in 1857. in September 1872 she was united in marriage to Austin Coldren who died at Corvallis, Oregon, April 13, 1911.
To mourn her departure, she leaves her children, Mr and Mrs Roscoe Ellis and baby, Leo Austin, two brothers, John E. Davis of Havensville, Kansas, James Davis of Nashville, Oregon, two sisters, Mrs. M. S. Knox of Havensville, Kansas, Mrs. J. T. Poague of Hill City, Kansas, with many other relative and friends. Two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Grover and Mrs Nannie Sholty preceded her into the great beyond.
When but 17 years of age, Ms. Coldren united with the Christian church, and lived a faithful christian life until death. She had her exceptional qualities with other choice souls. The tie of filial affection between herself and daughter was exceedingly strong. Great sacrifices were made, each for the other. Her going will be greatly realized by the daughter.
Funeral was held at the Christian church, February 1, at 2:00 p.m. Services were conducted by the minister, A. J. Carrick. The body was laid to rest in the Havensville cemetery.
