Jimmie D. McClelland, 70, died Feb. 14, 2009, at his home, Hutchinson.

He was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Hutchinson, the son of Frederick and Iona McMillan McClelland. He attended Hutchinson High School and later attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a machinist at Southern Extrusion in Hutchinson, until an accident left him disabled. He then was a self-employed artist, but continued machine work at home.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the National Rifle Association; a former member of the Itchibons Car Club in Hutchinson, and had been active in motorcycle racing prior to his accident.

On July 31, 1967, he married Jan D. Holland in Kinsley. She died April 21, 2006.

Survivors include: a son, Bart McClelland and wife, Christine; and four grandchildren, Nicole, Brittany, Kerynne and Trent McClelland, all of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Rod McClelland in 1992; and by a sister, Iona Jean McKibben.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Art Maddock presiding. Military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed.

Memorials may be sent to the McClelland Grandchildren Education Fund, in care of the mortuary.
