James A. Colburn, 56, of E. Second St., severely injured in a three-car accident Sunday on Second Street, east of Bridge, was reported in poor condition Monday in Chillicothe Hospital.

Colburn suffered severe cuts on his head, face, and neck, when his auto hit a tree after smashing into two autos. He was taken to the hospital by the city emergency squad. Later, he went into shock, police reported.

According to officers, Colburn drove onto Second Street from the first alley east of Bridge, between Second and Main Streets. His auto hit the left rear of a parked car as he turned west on Second Street. His auto jumped the south curb and circled a parking lot at the rear of Harry's TV Shop.

After completing the loop, the car again entered Second Street and collided with an eastbound car. The Colburn car then entered the alley on the north side of Second Street, and continued north for 118 feet before it went off the right side of the alley and crashed against a tree.

The Colburn car was extensively damaged, while the two cars it hit were moderately damaged.
