The Register, Hollidaysburg, PA reports in July 24, 1872 edition that Mary, wife of Daniel Hicks, of Duncansville, aged 60 years has departed. She was a good christian wife, mother, and neighbor.

1850 Census living in Allegheny Twp, Duncansville, PA. Children: John Hicks 14, Elizabeth Hicks 12, Sarah Hicks 10, Rebecca Hicks 8, Philemon N Hicks 6, Adie B Hicks 3, Mary Hicks 0

Her maiden name is given as Mary Whitney on her daughter's death certificate: Sarah R. Thomas, Jan. 7, 1926 in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Mary's maiden name is also Whitney for her eldest daughter Elizabeth's obituary.
