Susan Albaugh was born January 7, 1836, in Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Ann Hyder Albaugh. On February 18, 1861, in Frederick County, she married Lewis Henry Valentine, son of William and Lydia Mehring Valentine. They were the parents of 6 children: John W. Elmer, Mary E., Edward Luther, Elizabeth Arabel, Alva Clayton and Sudie May Valentine. Susan passed away on May 5, 1876, in Frederick County, and was buried in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery in Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland.
