Obit: Mrs. Henry Byers was born November 15, 1897, at Erpen, Germany. She died September 23, 1976, at her home in Correctionville after several years of illness, having attained the age of 78 years, 10 months and 8 days. She immigrated to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Hinkhouse, from Bremerhaven, Germany, arriving at Port of Entry, New York, New York, October 10, 1910. They settled in the Correctionville area. The former Lottie Hinkhouse married Henry Byers March 29, 1917, at Salem Lutheran Church. They farmed at Lawton, Rock Branch, Pierson and Correctionville. They moved into Correctionville in 1969. She was baptized into the Christian faith in Germany and confirmed her baptism at Salem Lutheran Church in 1913. She continued active membership throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Women's Society and at various times served as officer. Funeral services were held at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Olson of Moville officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, under direction of Barker Funeral Home. Casketbearers were grandsons, Larry, Craig, Clark, Keith, Kevin, David and Lewis Byers. She is survived by the widower, Henry, two sons, Ralph of Moville and Lloyd of Correctionville, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
