Rudolph Frank Hinkhouse, 61, passed away unexpectedly Sunday while driving home from church services with his family. He was born January 27, 1909, at Dissen, Germany, the son of Rudolph and Alvina Volwald Hinkhouse. He came to the United States with his parents and family when he was a year and a half old, arriving in the Correctionville area October 10, 1910. He was baptized as an infant to the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Salem Lutheran at age fourteen. He was a member of the Town & Country Club of Correctionville and active in Boy Scout work. He was engaged in farming with his father until 1936 when he moved to the farm where the family now makes their home. He married Hertha Rock September 12, 1940, at Salem Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 11, 1:30 p.m. from Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Arnold E. Sommer officiating. Burial was in Rock Branch Cemetery under direction of Dickison-Michaelson Funeral home. Survivors include the widow, four daughters, Carol of Sioux City, Mrs. Lee (Jane) Prueher of Racine, Wisconsin, Georgia of Iowa City and Bernice at home; two sons, Timothy and Richard at home; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Lottie) Byers of Correctionville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet, and one brother.
