Obit: Funeral services for Mrs. Rudolf Hinkhouse who passed away Sunday, October 26, 1947, were held in the Salem Lutheran Church, Rock Branch, Wednesday afternoon, October 29th with Rev. A.E. Guetzlaff officiating. Pallbearers were Lloyd Byers, Roy Hinkhouse, Albert Hinkhouse, Herbert Althaus and Bruce Althaus. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, Iowa. Alvine Charlotte Francisca Hinkhouse, nee Vorwald, was born November 22, 1877, at Natrup-Hilter, Hanover, Germany. On February 10, 1900, she was united in marriage to Rudolf Hinkhouse. They resided in Germany until 1910 when on October 1 of that year they came to America to farm four miles west of Correctionville, which became her home for the rest of her life. She leaves to mourn, besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Lottie Byers, two sons, William of Littleton, Colorado, and Rudy of Correctionville. One son passed away in infancy in Germany. She had been in ill health during the last three years and was confined to her bed the last seven weeks. Though seriously ill, she suffered little from pain and her friends always found her in a cheerful mood, with her heart fixed on God and his Grace. Last Saturday her condition became worse and on Sunday afternoon, October 26th, she passed away at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 4 days. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, a sister, Mrs. Anna Blaue of St. Louis, Missouri, a brother, William Althaus of Pierson, and one brother in Germany besides a host of friends.
