Phyllis Gale Turner peacefully returned to her father in Heaven on Aug. 2, 2009 while sleeping in her home. Her loving husband was by her side. She was 74.

She was born in Bluebell, Utah on Sept. 5, 1934 to Jesse and Edith (Bird) Gale. She grew up in Bluebell and attended Altamont High School where she participated in gymnastics and was a drum majorette.

She married Daniel William Turner on Jan. 15, 1951 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 2, 1954. They had five children: Lee, Claudio, David, Jeane & Dana, who were raised in the Maeser area.

Phyllis loved the outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, hunting or just going for a ride. These trips were great inspiration for many oil paintings that adorn her home and the homes of family & friends. She was very artistic and spent several years tooling leather for Utahn Saddle to help support Lee when he went on his mission.

Phyllis could be found in the yard and garden much of the summer tending to her flowers & garden. She loved to get on the riding lawn mower and mow as fast as she could. She loved many activities all of which involved her family: Yard sales on Friday with Dana; Matinees on Saturday with Claudia; Lunch and Dinner anywhere, anytime…She enjoyed playing games, especially pinochle, Chinese checkers and Yahtzee.

She was a friend to all - eternally optimistic and had the most positive attitude of anyone we know. Phyllis loved her brothers and sisters and urged them to be together often. She kept up with the lives of her children, 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and supported them in their various interests.

She was a devout member of the LDS church, serving as an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple, Relief Society President in Rangely, she was a den mother for more than 10 years and had many other callings.

We will dearly miss Phyllis, our dear wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend. Her life was lived to the fullest; much fun, much service, some heart ache and a lot of love.

She is survived by her husband of 58 ½ years, Dan W. Turner; son, William Lee Turner (Mary Lou); daughters, Claudia Reynolds (Gary), Jeane Brooks & Dana Powell (Norman); 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Saxton (Elmer) & Lois Dahms (Dale); brothers, Clyde Gale (Colleen), Floyde Gale (Pat), & Barry Gale (Sherryl); many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Gale and Edith B. Gale; brother, Elwayne Gale; sister, Lenna Black; and son David W. Turner.

Funeral services will be at the Maeser Stake Center at 11a.m. on Aug. 5 with visitation one hour prior to services.

Burial will be at the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

Our family would like to thank Dr.'s Memon, Blake, and Zone, as well as their staffs, for their compassionate and professional service. Also Maeser 7th Wards Bishopric and Relief Society for their compassionate service. Her dedicated visiting teachers: Tawnie Reynolds and Caroln Squires, as well as her home teachers, Morris Caldwell and Morgan Clark. Also to the wonderful food, flowers, music, hugs, visits and memories brought by those of you who chose to serve us that way. You are all very much loved and appreciated.
