James C Kimzey gave the land for this church and cemetry.
James C Kimzey is the son of David Kimzey and Elizabeth. He moved with his family from Geogia to Livingston Co, Ky in 1812. He was in a Tenn Reg in the War of 1812. He was also in the Blachawk War. Capt Kerchevel's Co. He married Elizabeth Hill 4 Oct 1813 Livingston Co Ky. They had 4 children: John A (died in the Mexican War), Ephraim Robinson, David Steele, James Campbell. Elizabeth dies with the last child and then James marries Elizabeth Mary Armstrong 9 Apr 1822 in Livingston Co, Ky. They have 6 Children: Nancy Jane, Alexander Armstrong, William Hamilton, Matilda Ann, Humphrey E, Benjamin M.
James moved across country from Jackson Co, Georgia to Kentucky with his father and siblings. They probably stopped in Tennesse for a couple of years. (I have not found them yet). They are on the tax lists of Livingston county Kentucky 1812. All the descendents talk about the big Earthquake of 1812. They were living in Livingston Co, now Crittenden Co, on the Kentucky side of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. They had aftershocks for years afterward. About 1816 his parents and most of his siblings move across the Ohio River to Gallatin Co, Ill. His brother David stays Kentucky.
James lived on the Kentucky side of the river until about 1830 when he moved to Perry Co, Illinois with his wife's relatives.

The first meetings of the Galum Presbyterian Church were in his home. When they were building the Church his son Ephraim fell from the roof and died. James died in 1852 and the Church was built in 1854 so there was a cemetery before the church was built. This church was burned by arsonists in 2008.
