OBITUARY

TIFTON – Ruth Brantley McClain, 79, died Sunday at the Dooly Medical Center in Vienna, Ga. She was a Ware County native and a former resident of Tifton.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Waycross. The family is receiving friends today at the funeral home in Tifton from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
A retired educator, she has been a charter teacher at the Tiftarea Academy. She was the widow of Rodger E. McClain and daughter of Mollie Williams Brantley and Count Julian Merle Brantley. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Harry Brantley.
She was a member of the Tifton First United Methodist Church, Charlotte Carson Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Beta Sigma Phi, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Experiment Station’s Lady Bugs.
She is survived by two daughters.
