Sarah "Sadie" Jeannette Brantley, 102 died Friday morning (March 4, 2011) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.

She was a native and life-long resident of Ware County she was the daughter of the late Count J.M. Brantley and Mollie Williams Brantley. She was also preceded in death by a two brothers, James Harrison "Harry" Brantley, and sister-in-law, Mae Corbitt Brantley, and Count Julian Merle Brantley and sister-in-law, Myrtle Corbitt Brantley; a sister, Ruth Brantley McClain; brothers-in-law, Rodger McClain and Earney Boyd.

A well-know and longtime educator in the Ware County School System, she retired from Waresboro Elementary School in 1974 after fifty years of teaching experience. During her long teaching career she had been honored as Waresboro Teacher of the Year, Ware Teacher of the Year and Okefenokee Regional Area Teacher of the Year.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Georgia Southern University of Statesboro, a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Georgia Peabody College for Teachers of Nashville, TN, and a Six Year Education Specialist Degree from Georgia Southern University of Statesboro.

She was a Charter member of Mount Green Church of God of Prophecy of Millwood, the Delta Kappa Gamma Women Teachers Honorary Society, the Ware County Retired Teachers Association, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women's Christian Temperance Union and was a life-member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include a sister, Joyce B. Boyd of Sylvester and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday (March 6, 2011) at Mt. Green Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 PM Sunday at Mt. Green Church of God Of Prophecy.
