J. H. "Harry" Brantley

Mr. James Harrison "Harry" Brantley, Sr., 84, died Sunday at the Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Ware County, he retired in 1972 as principle of Manor Elementary School, completing 36 years of teaching and school administration in Ware and Atkinson counties. He earned a masters degree in education from Georgia Southern, Statesboro, and a masters in administration from the University of Georgia, and was a member of the Georgia and Ware retired teachers’ associations.
He was also a member of the Mount Green Church of God of Prophecy and the AARP. His parents were Count J. M. Brantley and Mollie Williams Brantley.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Corbitt Brantley, of Millwood; a daughter Jean Brantley Gillis, of Pearson; a son, James H. “Jimmy” Brantley, Jr., of Blackshear; three sisters, Sadie Brantley of Manor, Ruth Brantley McClain of Tifton, and Joyce Brantley Boyd of Sylvester; a brother C. J. Brantley of Waresboro; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mount Green Church, with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 o’clock at Music Funeral Home on Tebeau Street.
