They lived for a short while on the farm in Newton before moving to Coloma, Wisconsin and together they had 14 children.

Mrs. Kaatz, 82, Ripon Woman, Dies
Ripon, Wis. (Special) - Mrs. Amelia Kaatz, 82, of East Fond du Lac St., died this morning at 3:05 a.m. at Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 21, 1870, in the Town of Mecan, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Schmudlach,
She had resided four years in Ripon and previous to that had lived in Waushara County. In 1884 she married John Kaats in the Town of Newton.
Survivors include three sons, William Kaatz, of Tomahawk, Edward Kaats, of Berlin, August Kaatz, of Brandon; six daughters, Mrs. Ida Onk, of Berlin, Mrs. Ella Leonard, of Ripon, Mrs. Clara Hadel, of Wild Rose, Mrs. Marie Ames, of Ogema, Wis., Mrs. Leona Juhnke, of Princeton, and Mrs. Cora Lietz, of Chicago; one frother, Adolph Schmudlach, of Oshkosh; one sister, Mrs. Charles Schleipp, of Coloma; and 35 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her husband, one son and four daughters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the Butzin Funeral Home, Ripon. Additional services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Wisconsin Lutheran Church, Coloma. The Rev. Carl Stubenvoll will officiate. Interment will be in Coloma Cemetery. Friends may call at the Butzin Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon after 3 p.m. until time of services.
