August H. Kaatz, 77, of 627 Park St., Ripon, died Tuesday morning at Ripon Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 12, 1899, in Westfield, the son of John and Amelia Schmudlach Kaats. Educated in Coloma, he was a retired farmer who resided in Brandon and in Ripon for the last 13 years.

Mr. Kaatz married the former Agnes La Bounty on Nov. 1, 1924, in Lisbon, N.D.

Survivors include his widow; three sons, Ellwood of Campbellsport, Delhart of St. James, Fla., and Donald of Rosendale; three daughters, Mrs. La Marr (Bernadine) Wright of Campbellsport, and Mrs. Raymond (Bonnie) Ludjack and Mrs. Scott (Sharon) Bishop, both of Ripon; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Onk of Rib Lake, Mrs. Alvin Juhnke of Princeton and Mrs. Cora Beck of Pomona, Calif. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with the Rev. Harley Tretow officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon.

Friends and relatives may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
