Richard Caruthers

Richard Alexander Caruthers was born in Douglas County, Kansas, July 9, 1877. He died October 26, 1920 and was buried in the Bristow Cemetery. He moved to Osborne County with his parents in 1879. He was killed in a car accident.
On April 3, 1899 he married Maude Ellen Francis, daughter of Hiram B. and Lucy Dawley Francis. She was born December 21, 1878 at Kearns City, Pennsylvania, and died October 13, 1962 at McPherson, Kansas.
Maude came to Osborne County with her parents at the age of three months and spent most of her life in Osborne and Russell counties.
The children of this family were Thomas, Merle, Elwyn, Ross, Ray, Dick, Mary (Mrs. Tanner), Mae (Mrs. Fred Mathes), Roland, born August 9, 1908, died March 16, 1942, married Marie Smith, November 17, 1932; Faye and Kenneth died in infancy.
