Samuel B Teas (Sam) was born on June 8 1866 to Jesse Thomas Teas and Sarah Jane Cage whom were early settlers in the Seawillow area of Lockart, Caldwell County, Texas.
Sarah Jane Cage was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Cage, Sr (1814-1887) and his first wife Mary Ann Cayce-Baker (widow of D. Davis D. Baker when she and Benjamin Cage Sr married).

Sam was a Constable of Precint 1, Caldwell county, Texas when he was killed in the line of duty in Dale, Caldwell County, Texas on December 29, 1907 (see Obituary Excerpt posted on this memorial - printed in the Galveston Daily News on December 30, 1907, page 1). He was known as one of the best officers in Caldwell County at the time of his death.

1st Married: He first married Lucinda V Stites on Dec. 3, 1884 in Caldwell county, Texas. Lucinda died ca 1886 (possibly complications of delivery, but not sure - but if so, the child must not have died also)

2nd Married: Julia Alice Butler (daughter of William G "Bill" Butler & Mary Caroline "Carrie" Keese) abt 1889.
They had two children:

1) Willie Myrtle Teas-Smith (1890-1916) who married Arthur William Smith. Wilie is buried in Lockhart Cemetery next to her parents.

2) Jesse Marvin Teas (1891-1959) whom is buried in Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Brown Co, Texas.

3rd Married: Alice Spaulding (1877-1938) after Julia, his 2nd wife, died in 1905. Alice Sam Teas died, Alice married a Kruez and then a Frances Banyon. Sam Teas had one daughter with Alice: Sallie Teas born/died Nov 2, 1907. Sallie (Sam's infant daughter) predeceased her father in November 1907 before her father was killed in the line of duty in December 1907. Have not located a burial location for infant daughter Sallie, but likely buried on the old home place: Teas Family Cemetery possibly in unmarked grave.

When Samuel B Teas died he was survied by his 3rd wife and his two children from his 2nd marriage.

Samuel B Teas was my great grand uncle. He is buried by his first wife (Julia Alice Butler-Teas) in Lockhart Cemetery. His parents, Thomas Jesse Teas and Sarah Jane Cage-Teas are buried on the old home place in Teas Family Cemetery (south of Lockhart). Samuel B "Sam" Teas was named for his grandfather Samuel B Teas (who was husband of Eveline Blackell, Sam's paternal grandmother).
