Mrs. Fannie Nuckles Fletcher

ROWE, Va. — Mrs. Fannie Nuckles Fletcher, age 98, of the Fletchers Ridge section of Rowe, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday (September 30, 2007) at her home.

Born August 26, 1909 in Buchanan County, Va., she was a daughter of the late G.W. "Doc" and Clercy Ray Nuckles, and step-mother, the late Cora McFadden Nuckles, whom she loved very much. She was married on January 16, 1933 to Claude Fletcher for 67 years before his passing in 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Gladys Hess, Ruby Johnson, Vernie and Ocie Nuckles, and five brothers, Dewey Nuckles, Howard Nuckles, Marvin Nuckles, Edward Nuckles, and Marshall Nuckles, and two sons-in-law, Sherman Compton and Sherman McGlothlin. She will be missed by all her family and friends and hope to someday meet her in Heaven.

Survivors include two sons, Arnold Fletcher and his wife, Eva of Kingsport, Tenn., and Jerry Fletcher and his wife, Brenda of Fletchers Ridge; six daughters, Irene Compton and husband, Herman of Council, Peggy Keen and husband, E.G. and Joann Keen and husband, Benny all of Bristol, Tenn., Betty Fletcher and husband G.B. of Nickelsville, Shirley Compton of Honaker, and Darlene Ratliff and her husband, Henry (Tim) of Fletchers Ridge; 14 grandchildren, Michelle Hunt and husband, Alex, Jane Street and husband, Chuck, Rebecca Ferrell and husband, Mike, Timothy Garland Keen and wife, Diane, Melinda Reed and husband, Mike, Lisa Carr and husband, Bobby, Pam Mullins and husband, Johnny, Claudie Jessee and husband, Bernie, Sally Compton and husband, Glenn, George Bailey Fletcher, Scott Compton and wife, Amy, Steven Compton and wife, Misty, Richard McGlothlin and wife, Tammy, and Phillip McGlothlin and wife, Tonya; two brothers, Arthur Nuckles of Davenport and Rev. Ellis Nuckles of Lebanon; five sisters, Juanita Farmer, Edna Childress, and Ada Farmer all of Fletchers Ridge, Marie Nuckles of Mansassas, and Alice Farmer of Honaker; 26 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. (today) Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Troy Harris, Rev. Claude Rose, and Rev. Ellis Nuckles officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Va. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be men of Fletchers Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. (today) Tuesday.
