Mrs. Juanita Nuckles Farmer, age 93, of Vansant, Virginia, went to be with Lord on Friday (September 11, 2015) in Lebanon, Virginia. Born May 28, 1922 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George “Doc” and Cora Nuckles. A lifelong resident of the Fletchers Ridge community, she was a member of Fletchers Ridge Freewill Baptist Church. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, no one left her home with an empty belly, without getting a hug, or without hearing her say, “I love you”. She touched the heart and soul of everyone that met her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of sixty-one years, Finis Farmer, one great-grandson, James Matthew Farmer, six brothers, Dewey Nuckles, Howard Nuckles, Edward Nuckles, Marvin Nuckles, Ellis Nuckles, and infant, Marshall Nuckles, and seven sisters, Ocie Nuckles, Vernie Nuckles, Ruby Johnson, Gladys Hess, Fannie Fletcher, Marie Nuckles, and Edna Childress.
Survivors include three sons, Jackie Farmer and wife, Judy of Apex, North Carolina, Ronnie Farmer and wife, Carol of Fredricksburg, Pennsylvania, and Nolan Farmer and wife, Alma of Honaker; three daughters, Joyce Compton and husband, Raymond of Roanoke, Debbie Lester and husband, Darrell of Vansant, and Charlotte Rasnake and husband, Carter of Cedar Bluff; eleven grandchildren, Dean Farmer and Kimberly, Cindy Compton, Andrea Henne and Terry, Paula Huffman and Gary, Heidi Lutz and Mike, Katina Lester, Jessica Hess and Brian, Bret Farmer and Sarah, Farrah Fink and Joe, Blake Farmer, and Lexis Rasnake; fifteen great-grandchildren, Jordan Huffman, Zachary Lutz, Truman Henne, Zane Lutz, Mason Huffman, Jaxon Hess, Zadyn Lutz, Isabella Hess, Zavier Lutz, Emma Farmer, Alayna Fink, Hallie Farmer, Evan Fink, Megan Farmer, and Laura Farmer; one brother, Arthur Nuckles; two sisters, Ada Farmer and husband, Brady, and Alice Farmer, and husband, Leonard; one sister-in-law, Anna Nuckles; many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain View Retirement Home, the employees of Home Nursing, and Megan Lester.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. Troy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Dean Farmer, Bret Farmer, Blake Farmer, Gary Huffman, Terry Henne, Mike Lutz, Brian Hess, Joe Fink, Mason Huffman, Jaxon Hess, Evan Fink, and Jason McGlothlin.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Fletchers Ridge Freewill Baptist Church.
