Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Root, 78, of Ruckersville, died Thursday on a Charlottesville hospital.
A native of Greene County, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Sarah Roberts Riner. She was the widow of John S. Root.
Surviving are a son, Oland W. Root of Barboursville; two daughters, Miss Hallie P. Root of Ruckersville and Mrs. Margie R. Norford of Charlottesville; and a brother, Alvin Riner of Ruckersville.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Spring Hill Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery, the Rev. LeeRoy Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Ryan Funeral Home in Quinque from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight.
