Hallie Pearl Root, 84, of Ruckersville, died Saturday, Oct., 18, 2003, in Charlottesville.
She was born April 27, 1919, In Greene County. She was the daughter of the late John Sam and Mary Riner Root.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Maude Root Herring.
She was a lifelong member at Spring Hill Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory a brother, Oland W. Root; a sister, Margie Root Norford and her husband, Mannie W. Norford, her always faithful brother-in-law, a daughter, Beverly Oliver Harris, two grandchildren, Adam W. Moyer, Jason A. Moyer; a nephew, Richard M. Norford and his wife, Kay Fullen; two nieces,Faye Norford-Pace and her husband, Bobby Pace, and Penny A. Norford; two great-nieces, Wendy Tanker and Kerry Pace; a great-nephew, Bobby Tonker.
Hallie was employed as a sales clerk at C.H. Williams and Smith's of Bermuda for many years. She loved working in her flower gardens and was known for her beautiful vegetable gardens. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive family and friends at from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight at Ryan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at Spring Hill Baptist. Church, with the Rev. Dan Carlton officiating.
