Injuries Fatal
To J. S. Burt
Parsons, Kansas--Joseph S. Burt, 69, of Thayer, Kansas, died in the Labette County Medical Center today of injuries suffered in a traffic accident Thursday. His wife, Buda, 61, was killed.
Glen Steinmitz, 38, driver of the other car, was still in critical condition. His son John E. Steinmitz, 10, was less seriously hurt. Steinmitz, of Parsons, has extensive livestock interests in Kansas and Oklahoma.
Joseph S. Burt, 69, Thayer, was born February 10, 1893 in Norton County. Burt came to the Thayer community in 1914 and was a barber for over 30 years. May 31, 1928, at Girard, he married Buda Mae Whisman. He was a member of the Christian church.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. William P. Brewer, Parsons, Mrs. James L. Hannon, Edna, Mrs. Glen Thornton, Thayer; one son, Robert Burt, Costa Mesa, California; five sisters. Mr. Guy Dillon, Mrs. O. H. Colling, both of Wilsonville, Nebraska, Mrs. J. H. Mourey, Oxford, Nebraska, Mrs. T. A. Mattice, Twin Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Wayne Harrington, Aurora, Arkansas; and eleven grandchildren. One son, four sisters, and two brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be in the Christian Church at Thayer Sunday at 2 P. M. with the Rev. Jean Minnich officiating. burial will be in the Thayer cemetery with the Carson Funeral Home, Parsons, in charge.
