Mahala Jane (Shockey) Armstrong was also the widow of Thomas W. Goldsmith. They were married 5 Sep 1876 in Lincoln, Logan, IL. She married W.S. Armstrong, 17 May 1889 in Sedalia, Pettis, MO. She was born 27 Feb 1857 in Iowa to Nelson and Susan King Shockey. Nelson died in Clay Co., MO in the 1860s and Susan and family moved to Mason Co., IL. Nelson was the great grandson of the immigrant, Johann Christoffel Schacke. Mahala's grandparents were Abram and Susan Shockey, buried in Wayne Co., Iowa. She and Thomas had 2 children in Missouri, Dollie Ann (b. 1882) and an unknown infant. Mahala and Wm. S Armstrong had 2 daughters, Nora Augusta (1890-1890) and Lottie (b. 1893). Like many women of the time, she got younger with each passing year.

There is no death certificate listed for her. Years ago, I wasted money requesting it and now it doesn't appear on the OK2Explore website. The funeral home data is on familysearch.org: Oklahoma, Noble County, Parker Funeral Home, Funeral Records, 1908-1982.
