J.M. Abbott, one of the oldest citizens of Cottonwood Point, Mo., died at his residence on June 22nd, 1933, at the age of 68 years and 8 months.
Mr. Abbott was married to Mrs. Vanite Potter in 1901. They lived at Churte Sixteen until they moved to Cottonwood Point about twenty-five years ago.
Mr. Abbott was an active member of the Baptist Church. For several months his health had been very poor, but he seemed to have recovered sufficiently to be up and well on the way to recovery when he became serviously ill again and suffered considerably for eight or ten days before his death.
He is survived by his wife, four sons, Cloise, John, Charley and Malvin Dee, two step-children, Mrs. Vernie Abbott of the Mound and Eddie Potter of Manila, Ark., and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Cottonwood Point Baptist church by the Rev. J.H. Cunningham and interment was in Maple Cemetery.
