Mr. Walter Abrams, 62, 221 West 2nd Street, Rushville, died at 8:40 a.m. Friday, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. He had been in failing health since October.
Mr. Abrams was previously employed by American Central Kitchens for 30 years in Connersville, also worked at Wilkie Industries, and was last employed with Pinkerton Security Guards at Nabisco, in Morristown.
Born in Arton, Ohio on April 9, 1913, he was a son of James and Melissa Sennett Abrams.
A past member of the Moose and Eagles Lodge in Rushville, he lived in Greenfield for nine days, and prior to that was a Rush County resident his whole life.
He was married to Claribel Wyrick Abrams on June 19, 1933, who survives.
Other survivors include six sons and five daughters.
They are, Earl (Sonny), Connersville; Walter, Jr., Rushville; Larry, R. 1, Manilla; Terry, Dade City, Fla.; Marion, Ft. Knox, Ky. with the Army; Randy, Paris Island, S.C., Marines.
The five daughters are Mrs. Robert (Ruby) Klump, Connersville; Mrs. William (Dorothy) Pennington, Dade City, Fla.; Mrs. Carolyn Spears, Greensburg; Mrs. Herbert (Marjorie) Reed, Indianapolis; and Mrs. Donald (Sharon) Walker, Rushville.
Also surviving is one brother, Joseph Abrams, Garden City, Mich. 29 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one daughter preceded in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Abrams will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Moster and Sons Mortuary. Rev. Kenneth Bates will officiate. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery.
