Autobiography of Mrs. Thomas Fry.
---I, Bessie Buck, the daughter of James and Catherine Buck was born in Carthage Township, Athens County, Ohio, January 27, 1849.
---I attended the Presbyterian church and Sabbath School. My father never said, Go children, he said, "Come children, it is time to go." Many a time when I was eleven years old has he led me to Sunday School. My Superintendent's name was Cathern Dixon. I attended the Presbyterian Sunday School from 8 years till I was 19. Then upon the death of my brother, Lewis, I went with my sister-in-law to the Methodist church as she was so lonely. In 1869 I joined the United Brethren church at Cannanville, Ohio. Sister Phoebe, cousin Lizzie Buck and I were baptized in Hocking river at Guysville, Ohio in 1868.
---I started to school when I was but six years old and did not miss a day of the winter term unless it was storming so hard that I could not get there. And when I reached the age of 17 my father sent me to the high school just across the river from Guysville, Ohio. Here my teachers name was George Boyce. My father kept me in school until he decided to leave Ohio.
---In November 1868 I came with my parents, brothers and sisters, to Macon county Missouri and we settled on the farm know as the Buck farm just south of LaCrosse.
---On July 25, 1872 I was married to William Thomas Fry and we made our home on his farm two miles east of LaCrosse. To this union was born one daughter, Elizabeth Katherine Fry.
---In 1881, I joined the Methodist Episcopal Church South. My father died in August 1887 and from then on my husband, daughter and I attended Sunday School and Church regularly although for some years the care of an aged mother-in-law kept me at home.

Note. Mrs. Fry died April 25, 1923, having thus attained the age of 74 years, 2 months and 28 days. She leaves to mourn her loss an aged husband, one daughter, two brothers, one sister, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Saturday afternoon at 2;00 by the pastor, Rev. O. L. Angel and interment in the La Plata Cemetery.
