Grandpa was born in the country near Atlantic, Cass County, IA. His father migrated to Dixon County in March 1892 and built a home on a farm in Clark Twp. John Belle hauled logs from the river at Ponca through the weather by sled. Frank was the youngest of two boys in the family.

Frank found his father dead in the barn in December 1904. He continued to run the farm and live there with his mother and probably one or more of his siblings. When Frank married in March 1910, he and his bride lived on the farm, called the North Place. His mother moved to town and remarried two years later.

Grandpa was active in the school community in Clark Twp. Three of his children became school teachers. He was also active in the farming community and was well-respected for his ability and his honor. Frank and Margaret had six children; one of the boys died at age 17, the same year their youngest child was born.

About 1956 following the youngest daughter's marriage, he and Grandma moved to a farm closer to Dixon. Grandpa died on the road in Dixon County, probably headed to the North Place built by his father. He is buried with his wife in Concord Cemetery.
