Funeral for James Roland Bates, 74, of 3535 Lawrence County Road 327 Moulton was to be today at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Penn officiating.
Burial was to be in Red Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Bates died Wednesday at Parkway Medical Center Hospital. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Inez Bates; three sons, Allen Jerome Bates of Moulton, Bobby Bates of Trinity and Kenneth Bates of Decatur; one daughter, Jean Hallman of Moulton; four sisters, Edith Shelton and Obie Staggs, both of Trinity, Bessie Childers of Eva, and Flora B. Sammons of Maryville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Scott Bates, Todd Bates, Wayne Bates, Lacey Bates, Anthony Tyler and Eddie Coker.
