Calico Rock Progress 3/6/1953 Oxford Citizen Dies Monday at Age of 80-- John Houston Rowden aged 80 died at his home at Oxford Monday morning. He was a native of Tennessee, but had lived at Oxford 43 years. He was a carpenter, farmer and livestock dealer. Mr Rowden married Sarah Caruthers of Fulton County who survives. They were the parents of 15 children. The 12 surviving are: Gregory Rowden of Evansville, Ind., Remmell, Dallas and Noble Rowden of Oxford; Bill Rowden of Little Rock; Mrs Phrona Hames, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs Vesta Campbell, Violet Hill, Ark.; Mrs Johnie Hames, Franklin, Ark.; Mrs Bessie Clifft, Wenatchee, Wash.; Mrs Edna Webb, Greenville, S. C.; Mrs Marvis Green, Salem, Ark.; and Mrs Ray Dean Cooper, Richland, Wash.
