Herbert Spencer Rowden was the child of John Houston Rowden and Trixie Mable 'Lovelace' Rowden. Trixie died in Celeste, Hunt Co. TX.

Herbert was born in Texas. After his mother's death, and in his teen years moved too Oxford, Izard Co., Arkansas, where his father and wife, Sarah'Caruthers'Rowden were living. He now made up a family of fifteen Rowden children. What a great family they were.

The family wasn't too worried when Herbert was called to WW1,and served in France, the war was almost over and they expected him home soon. However, as he was helping to clean up after the war, a sniper shot and killed him.

Herbert was loved by his family. Two of the Rowden boys are named after him.
