Mrs. Maria Hall was born in Westchester county N. York, Jan. 10, 1799, and died May 27, 1884, at the home of her son, J. M. Hall, Fairmount Illinois. She was married in 1817, to Frost Underhill Hall. They moved that year to Cincinnati O.; where they dwelt until 1844, when they moved near Newport, Vermilion county Indiana. Her husband died in 1848, but she remained a widow the balance of her days and continued to live in the old homestead until 1854, when she sold out since which she has made her home with her son J. M., Fairmount, and her daughter Mrs. Phoebe Hasty, Newport. Her other living children are Levi, of Garrett's Grove, Vermilion county, Illinois, and David A., of Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Hall united with the M. E. Church in 1847, and has since lived in a pious, meek and Christian life. The remains were taken to Newport and buried in the Thomas graveyard, by a large concourse of friends and relatives.
