SALLIE (SARA) FRANCES BARTON
Frances, as she was better known, was a daughter of Isaac Newton Barton III, who proudly recorded her birth on page two of his family Bible as follows: Family Births - "Sallie Frances Barton was born 18 November 1889." Sadly she died two years before her father and her death was entered in the said as follows: Page Four, Family Deaths - "Francis Schellin died Thursday, 2 April 1942, age 53."

Her death was recorded at the Ohio Bureau of Vital Statistics as Frances Schellin, a white married female housewife, aged 52y 4m 15d, died at 4:30 a.m. on 2 Apr 1942 at Oak Terrace in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. Cause of Death: Arterio Sclerosis; contributing cause: Influenza Bronchistis. She was born 18 Nov 1889 in Virginia to Isaac Barton, mother listed as unknown by informant. Burial 4 Apr 1942, Glendale Cemetery. Services provided by The Billow Co., 118 Ash St., Akron. Spouse and informant: Herman Schellin, of Akron [Death Cert. 26334].

She was raised and secured fair education in the common schools of Rockingham county, Virginia. She traveled with her family to Newark, Ohio between 1903 and 1909 where she married John W. Ball, the son of Charles W. Ball and Matilda Hottinger on the 19th day of September 1911. The couple's marriage certificate was recorded in the Licking County Probate Court Marriage Records [1910-13; Vol. 12.190, Cert. 3884]. The couple was blessed by the birth of one daughter, Matilda Frances (Little Frances) Ball. Although she was listed as married and a resident of her parents home on the 1920 Licking County census, her husband John was not included. Frances and her daughter resided within her parents home for the majority of her first thirty-eight years. She married second c.1929, at the age of twenty-nine, Mr. Herman Schellin.

He was not a naturalized citizen. Rents a home for $32 per month. Occupation: Loads lumber for lumber house. Frances wife 40, married at 39, born in Virginia as were her parents. Max son (from a previous marriage) 22 single, born in Ohio, parents born in Germany, not naturalized. Occupation: Truck driver for a moving company.
