ERNEST BARTON
The names of men who have distinguished themselves through the possession of qualities which daily contributed to the success of their private life and those who enjoyed the confidence and respect of men about them, should not be permitted to perish. Few men who have lived, has left behind him a more honorable record than the late young Ernest Barton, who was a man whom everybody liked owing to his genuine kindness, generosity and unswerving honesty.

He was the youngest member of the Isaac Barton family. His birth was recorded in his father's Bible on page three as follows: "Family Births - Erny Barton was born 25 October 1902." He was third member of the family to die before reaching the age of thirty-one. His death was recorded in the said Bible on page four as follows: "Family Deaths - Ernest Barton - Thursday, 18 June 1931, age 28."

Ernest, a mechanic at the Akron Rubberworks, remained single and died at the age of twenty-eight years, seven months and twenty-three days. Ernest's death was recorded in the Ohio Vital Statistics, Volume 6648, Certificate 39668 as follows: Ernest Barton, Rubberworks Mechanic, white, male bachelor, age "about twenty-eight", born "Unknown" in Virginia to Isack Barton, who was born in Virginia and [blank] Hottinger, who was also born in Virginia. His brother-in-law, (Harry) H. D. Curry, of Stow, Ohio signed the said as the informant. The signature of J.R. Gardner of Sweeny Brothers Funeral Home in Akron, Ohio appears as the Undertaker and Embalmer. Ernest was interred in the Stow Cemetery, Stow, Summit County, Ohio on 21 June 1931. Note: His monument was inscribed as Ernest Barton 25 Oct, 1902 - June 18, 1931.

The medical portion of the said certificate reflects that he died at 10:55 a.m. on 18 June 1931 in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. The principal cause of death was listed as Bronchial Pneumonia and Lung Abrasions (non-Tubercular) with contributory causes listed as Nephritis and Myocardial Degeneration. Although his certificate of death indicated that his condition was not related to Tuberculosis. A"Thoracoplasty" was performed in November 1930. Ernest's death was certified by Carl R. Stemke, M.D., of the Sec. National Building. He attended Ernest from 17 February 1931 until the day of his death.
