Alice E. Clary, 87, died at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She had been in failing health.

She was born May 7, 1916, in Walnut, Kansas, to F.E. and Anna B. (George) Westhoff.

She grew up and attended schools in the Walnut and Greenbush area.

She married D. Dale Clary on Jan. 14, 1934, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie, Kansas. He survives of the home.

They lived in Parsons. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Jan. 14, 2004.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, its Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella. In earlier years, she had been a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parsons.

She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and fishing.

Other survivors include two daughters, Shirley Fought and husband, Bill, of Thayer, KS, and Denise Collins of Parsons, KS; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Westhoff of Parsons, KS; and four sisters, Marcina Berry and Marie Kliewer, both of Parsons, KS, Francie Ann Molliconi of Lakewood, CO, and Helen Larson of Del Ray Beach, FL.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Phillips; two grandchildren, Chris Leuty, and a stillborn, Billy Leuty; three brothers, Merle Westhoff, Verdon Westhoff, and Floyd Westhoff; and two sisters, Easter Gleason and Edna Foster.

The service will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Parsons, KS, with the Rev. Robert Wachter officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parsons, KS.

Memorials to St. Patrick's Catholic Church Renovation Fund may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
