She was born on March 14, 1935, at Parsons to Dale and Alice (Westhoff) Clary. She grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools graduating from Parsons High School in 1953.
Shirley moved to Topeka where she worked at Adams brothers Printing for several years. She later moved to Parsons where she worked at IMI, Flesh, and Vallis Printing. She retired in 2000 after many years of service in the printing industry.
Shirley enjoyed going to flea markets, fishing, camping, family, collecting stamps, growing flowers, gardening, and coloring. She was raised Catholic and attended the Dennis United Methodist Church.
She and Bill Fought were united in marriage on July 25, 1969, at Parsons. He survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David Engroff, and his wife, Sara of Greenfield, MO, Brad Fought, and his wife, Gina of Dennis, and Michael Fought, and his wife, Adele of Jefferson, KS; four daughters, Paula Ramirez, and her husband, Danny of Parsons, Rebecca Marchant, and her husband, Mike of Cherryvale, LeAnn Manley of Mound Valley, and Jennifer Fought of Cherryvale; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; her sister, Denise Lucas, and her husband, Rick of Dennis.
She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Bo Raida, and her sister, Sharon Phillips.
Private family memorial services will be held at the Dennis United Methodist Church with Pastor Pat McReynolds officiating at a later date. Inurnment will be held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may come to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home to sign the register.
