Amy Edith Colgrove of Park Rapids passed away at the Sunset Nursing home on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 89 years of age.
She was born on September 3, 1879 in Chippewa County, Wisc., to George and Sarah Osborn. In the summer of 1886 the family moved to Ashland, Wisc., where she grew to womanhood and received her education.
In October of 1894 the family moved to Twin Valley, where she taught in rural schools, and in September of 1899 her family moved to Osage. On December 30, 1899 she was united in marriage to Edmund C. Burgess and to this union one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Beatrice) Sartain was born.
She was married to Morton S. Colgrove on May 19, 1906 this union was blessed with three sons and two daughters.
Mrs. Colgrove was a member of the Woman's Missionary Society of the First Baptist Church of Park Rapids.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 1 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist church of Osage with the Reverend Lawrence H. Magnuson officiating. Interment was at the Osage cemetery.
Organist was Les Enfield, and he accompanied, Russell Carter who sang "Only a Sinner" and "What a Wonderful Savior"
Serving as pallbearers were Ed Andrews, James Johnson, Kenneth Sartain, Albert Christianson, Floyd Solinger, and Ray Enfield.
Preceding her in death are her husband, who died in 1952, and one daughter, Vera, who died in infancy.
Surviving are three sons, Ted Colgrove of Osage, Ward Colgrove of Kelly Lake, and Robert Colgrove of Hot Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Beatrice) Sartain of Park Rapids,, and Mrs. Clay (Kathryn) Steele of El Dorado, Ark.; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of dearly loved friends.
