In addition to Samantha and John Franklin's thee children who lived into adulthood (Stella A. Scott Crawford, Wirt Adams Scott, & Orvil D. Scott) they lost an infant daughter and two young sons, Leontine Scott and John F. Scott. Their single oblisk tombstone records John Franklin on one face, Samantha on another face, the infant daughter on another face, and Leontine on the fourth face.
Son, Leontine was born three months after the death of his father, John Franklin. Based on available information, it is likely that Leontine and John F. were twins.

Mrs Hobbs, daughter of the late COL Jas C. Garrott, and the late wife of W R HOBBS, was born near Looxahoma Mississippi, Dec 25, 1838. At the place of her nativity she spent all the sunny days of her childhood amid the happiest surroundings. While yet the rosy hues of young womanhood were fresh on her face, she was happily united in marriage with John F Scott, of Looxahoma. From this pleasant union she leaves her three children, Stella, Orville, and Wirt, who are now cherishing in sad hearts the sweet memory of their devoted mother. Mr Scott died in the summer 1868 or 1869. Three or four years later his widow married Mr N R Hobbs of Virginia, who is left weeping over his loss, in the death of his faithful and true wife.
Some ten years before her death she was happily converted; and was baptized by the Rev J W Lipsey, into the fellowship of the Hickory Baptist Church, of which she remained a quiet but consistent member the rest of her life. Her faith has ever strong in the promise of God, and her hope of a glorious immortality was ever bright. She died in the full triumph of the Christian faith on the morning of March the second 1882. A large assembly of loved ones and friends attended her funeral services and burial, at the family gravy yard near Looxahoma. Sister thour art gone to rest
Thy toils and cares are o'er,
And sorrow, pain and suffering now,
Shall ne'er distress thee more."
