Doing research on John Franklin Scott (father to Orville) and his kids. I know the tombstone says Orville was born in 1871, but his father John Franklin (memorial #37947532) died in 1869. On the 1870 US Census of DeSoto, Miss show the widow and her kids, one being Orville at the age of 3. The 1880 Census show widow remarried to N.B. Hobbs and O.D. Scott at the age of 12. Just passing on info I have found. Of course, have no idea who put the tombstone up and where the date of 1871 originated.
