Caroline Englische Siedel was born September 1, 1856 in Austria and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. John Poeffel at 6:50 P.M., Saturday evening, June 13, 1936, at the age of 79 years, nine months, and twelve days.
She grew to womanhood in Austria and was united in marriage to Mr. Frank Siedel, February 21, 1884 (1887 per marriage certificate). The couple came to America in 1885 (1886) and made their home on farms in Howard and Butler counties, they moved from a Butler Co. farm to Shelby in March 1920. After the death of Mr. Siedel, which occured August 3, 1933, Mrs. Siedel left Shelby and has since made her home with her daughters.
Besides her husband she was predeceased in death by a son Herman, and daugther, Lena, also one grandchild and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Siedel leaves to mourn four daughters, Mrs. Anna Bock, of Bellwood; Mrs.Hannah Supencheck, of Fullerton; Mrs. Della Zohner and Mrs. Minnie Poeffel of Shelby; one son Frank Siedel, of Rising City; twenty three grandchildren and seven great grand children.
A requiem High Mass, conducted by Rev. O. F. Schlachter, was held at Sacred Heart church at nine o'clock Tuesday morning June 16 and the body laid to rest in the Shelby Catholic Cemetery.
