The sad intelligence was received here Friday from Birmingham, Ala., announcing the death on Thursday of Mrs. Amanda J. McChesney, widow of Dr. R. A. McChesney. Deceased was a native of Augusta, but for a number of years has been residing in Birmingham, although she always spent her summers in the county. Last summer was no exception, she spending the summer here with her daughter, Mrs. Dr. R. A. Berry, with whom she resided in Birmingham.

Mrs. McChesney was before her marriage a Miss Baylor, and is survived by five sisters and one brother -- Mr. G. M. Baylor, Mrs. H. G. Eichelberger, Mrs. C. S. Baker, Mrs. J. O. Hobbs, and Miss L. M. Baylor of this city, and Mrs. C. W. Freeman of Little Rock, Ark.

Her remains were brought to her old home for interment. The funeral taking place Sunday afternoon from the home of her sister, Mrs. Eichelberger on North New street, this city.
