WENONA: George A. W. Warner, 91, formerly of Wenona and the past two years at Liberty Village, died at 11:40 P.M. Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Wenona, the Rev. Peter M. Glock officiating.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Varna, IL.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hurst Funeral Home, Wenona, IL and for one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Born May 3, 1912, in Manito, he was the son of Henry and Anna (Hinrichs) Warner. He married Ida Stahl on August 13, 1939, in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Rhonda (Mrs. Bill) Briest of Sherman and Rose Anne (Mrs. Norm) Potthoff of Streator; a son, Randall (Janis) Warner of Wenona; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, George William Warner; two brothers; and a sister.
He worked as a young man at Quaker Oats in Pekin as a machine operator. He later farmed in the Wenona, Toluca, and Varna area.
He was a member, elder and trustee of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau.
Memorials may be directed to his church or the Wenona Fire and Ambulance Department.
