She arrived in America in 1877. The family then consisted of her father and 8 children. Her mother passed around 1875 on Guernsey.
On March 13, 1888, Mattie married Frederick Albert “Fred” Patterson in Hamilton Co., Nebraska. They had one son, William S. Patterson.
