Biography provided by Sanford's great grand niece, FamilyHistoriansets, 2019

Sanford Sarchet "Doc" Martin (1859-1932) was one of ten children born on Guernsey in the Channel Islands to Stephen Touzeau Martin and Anna Elizabeth Sarchet (Sachet).

Sanford arrived in America on June 18, 1877 and settled with his family in Nebraska. His mother and one brother passed before the family came to America. One sister married and raised her family in England.

During a portion of the 1880's and 1890's, Sanford served in the US Navy based in San Francisco, California.

He was married for about ten years, 1890 - 1900, to Miss Addie May Hill (Addie's parents: William Hill & Adaline Moffitt). They divorced around Feb. 1900. Sanford & Addie had three daughters, Geraldine Elsie "Gem", Epsey G., and Veva Gay. Addie and all three daughters eventually settled in California.

Sanford molded himself into “Doc” Martin, a Buffalo Bill style entertainer. He traveled coast to coast as the “Ocean to Ocean” traveler, in a wagon with his horse “California Prince” and his dog “Rover”. He gave lectures and attended the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition (World’s Fair) in San Francisco.
