Information provided by John Christeson:

This is the grave of Sarah Jane (Russell) Boultinghouse, the wife of Daniel Brown Boultinghouse, whose gravestone is inscribed Mrs. Daniel B. Boultinghouse. Her husband joined the Confederate army in the summer of 1863, died, cause of death unknown, and was buried in Galveston, Texas. One source found on the internet stated that it was thought that she died of a broken heart due to the death of six of her children and her husband in the span of five years. Two children died on the same day in 1859 and three in January 1962 within two days of each other. (Dec. 7, 8 & 9, 1862. The last child died in Dec. 1862.

Her grave and those of six of her children, a family friend, and six slaves were moved here by the Corps of Engineers in 1974 from the family cemetery located on the Boultinghouse homestead, south side of the North Fork of San Gabriel River. Removal was casued by the erection of dam on the river, possibly Lake Georgetown, Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas. [From the Chisholm Trail, Vol. 17, No. 1.]
