SYLVESTER AMES, CANTON NATIVE DIES AT POTSDAM
Sylvester Ames, a native of the town of Canton, died in Potsdam Hospital, a few hours after admission, Sunday night. Death was attributed to pneumonia.
The Funeral will take place Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's Chruch, Potsdam, with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, in Potsdam.
He was born at the old Ames farm about a mile from this village on the Judson street road, July 20, 1871, a son of Julius and Mary Haggerty Ames. He spent his early life on the farm and later entered the cheese and butter manufacturing business which he followed for most of his active life. He married Miss Katherine Regan of Potsdam some years ago. For the past five years, the couple has resided in Potsdam.
Surviving are his wife and one brother, Arthur D. Ames of Potsdam and a number of nieces and nephews.
