Benjamin Jefferson "B.J." Benefield was the son of Henderson and Sara Louisa Tackett Benefield. B.J. was a Civil War Veteran and POW, CSA~Arkansas Mounted Rifles. He was captured near Conway Co., Arkansas in 1863 and held in several Union Prison Camps until his release at the end of the War in 1865. He married Harriet Adelaide Barry on October 2, 1870 in Clarksville, Red River Co., Texas. B.J. and Harriet were the parents of Malcolm Mark "Mack" Benefield, b.7/7/1871 d.8/3/1925, Mack married Mattie Jackson. Benjamin Howard Benefield, b.12/21/1872 d.6/1/1949, Benjamin never married. Eugene Otto "Ott" Benefield, b.7/13/1875 d.1/4/1947, Ott never married. John "Barry" Benefield, Author, b.5/12/1877 d.9/22/1971, Barry married Lucille Stallcup.
