He married Harriet Adelaide Barry on October 2, 1870 in Clarksville, Red River Co., Texas. B.J. and Harriet were the parents of Malcolm Mark "Mack" Benefield, b.7/7/1871 d.8/3/1925, Mack married Mattie Jackson. Benjamin Howard Benefield, b.12/21/1872 d.6/1/1949, Benjamin never married. Eugene Otto "Ott" Benefield, b.7/13/1875 d.1/4/1947, Ott never married. John "Barry" Benefield, Author, b.5/12/1877 d.9/22/1971, Barry married Lucille Stallcup. Name In Heaven Benefield, b.1/7/1879 d.1/8/1879. James Henderson Benefield, Judge, b.9/15/1880 d.9/1/1973, James married Justa Beavers "Bevas" Glass. Sarah Caroline "Daisy" Benefield, b.9/27/1882 d.11/1971, Daisy married Phillippe Michel Bower, Jr. Archibald Terhune "Archie" Benefield, b.9/14/1884 d.11/16/1902. Frances Louisa "Fannie" Benefield, b.8/25/1886 d.11/30/1962, Fannie never married. Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Benefield, b.12/29/1888 d.10/26/1930, Jeff married Lula Stringfellow. B.J. owned and operated B.J. Benefield Ice Company, the first manufactured ice company in the United States, some say in the World, B.J. held the patent for the Ice Machine.
