Tyler Jackson "Jack" Ayers, 60, of Pulaski passed away Friday morning, December 16, 2005 at his home after a fight with lung cancer. He was born March 3, 1945 in Pocahontas, VA and was the son of the late Tony Jacob Ayers & Della Frances Guynn Ayers. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tony Jacob Ayers, Jr. and Thomas James Ayers. He was employed by Volvo, New River Valley Truck Plant for 29 years. Jack served in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. Surviving are wife of 36 years, Linda Ratcliffe Ayers, Pulaski; three sons, Charles Jackson Ayers, Nashville, TN, Jason Arnold Ayers, Pulaski, Robert Allan Ayers, Pulaski; brother, John Lee Ayers; sister, Leila Hurst, Nashville, TN. A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from Hufford Cemetery, Pulaski County with Rev. Dale Akers officiating. Pulaski VFW Post #1184 will conduct the military graveside rites. Visiting will be Sunday evening from Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Flowers are appreciated but donations can be made to the Pulaski Daily Bread, PO Box 824, Pulaski, VA 24301.
